Local Memorial Day Celebrations

Memorial Day Weekend Celebrations in the Russellville, Arkansas Area

Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a time to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives for our country. This weekend, all around the United States as we welcome summer, we’ll be honoring them in ceremonies, special events, and festivals. I’m especially looking forward to the following Russellville area celebrations.

Saturday, May 24

Lake Dardanelle State Park in Russellville – A variety of nature programs and trail hikes will run between 8am and 5pm through Monday. Admission is free.

Mountain Harbor Marina in Mount Ida - A Memorial Day Blessing of the Fleet Ceremony will be held at 10am. Admission is free.

Monday, May 26

Tri-County Fair Grounds in Marvell - The celebration to honor the military who served our country will begin at 11am. It will feature guest speakers Col. Mike Ross (RET) and Martha "Coach" Cothren of Little Rock, daughter of former POW during WWII. Two Purple Heart cities will be recognized by Arkansas State Commander Jose J. Martinez, (MOPH) of Bella Vista. Lunch will be served following the ceremony. Admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned food donations for homeless Veterans.

Depot Downtown
in Russellville – There will be a Memorial Day Ceremony to honor those who served in the armed forces. It will begin at 10am. It is recommended that those in attendance bring their own seating.

Memorial Day Bream Tournament in Atkins – This annual event will kick off at 7am on the boat dock. There is an entry fee of $10 per person to fish on the bank or in a boat. More information.
